All this is changing now. I have always had a love affair with books. I was that kid who kept a list of all the books I read in the summer to give to my teacher when school started again. I won prizes for the number of books that I read! I love looking at books on the shelf, that's something I have forgotten this past few years that I have been reading exclusively on my Kindle. I will still probably do the majority of my reading on my Kindle, but I am slowly staring to buy hard copy books again.
The one book that broke my hard copy fast was the Jim Beaver book I reviewed a couple weeks ago, Life's That Way. Then I ended up getting these books...
I have a fascination with John Barrowman. It started when he first came on the scene in the first season of Doctor Who and has continued since then. One is his autobiography and the other one is more about his career. I don't know when I will read these, but I know that I will someday!
He has also written this book and I think I am going to have to keep my eye out for it because it looks like something I would like as well. Here is the synopsis posted on Goodreads.
Lots of twins have a special connection - being able to finish each other's sentences; sensing what the other is thinking; perhaps even knowing when the other is in trouble or in pain - but for 12-year-old twins, Matt and Emily Calder, the connection is beyond special. Together, the twins have extraordinary powers. They are able to bring art to life, or enter paintings at will. Their abilities are sought by villains trying to access the terrors of Hollow Earth - a place where all the demons, devils and creatures ever imagined lie trapped for eternity. The twins flee with their mother to the security of an island, off the west coast of Scotland, where their grandfather has certain protective powers of his own. But too much is at stake, and the twins aren't safe there either. The villains will stop at nothing to find Hollow Earth and harness the powers within...
I also have a couple other books on the way to me, but I am going to save those and post about them when I get them.
Happy reading!!
I haven't heard of this author before -- I am just the opposite -- I have a nook but much prefer paper. The screen gives me a headache when I read too long on it.
ReplyDeleteWow I didn't know John Barrowman wrote a book with his sister! I have to check that out. Big fan of Barrowman - stemming from Doctor Who too, but sustained because I love his singing voice. Will have to check out that book. And I'm a new follower through GFC! http://bookishwhimsy.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI think it's the first in a series and it's YA. Thanks for the follow, I followed you too...I love how crisp and clean your site is, it's so easy to read!
DeleteWow, I didn't know he wrote another memoir. I checked and my library doesn't have, "I Am What I Am". Guess I'll eventually have to buy it.
