This was my first Kim Karr book, but I loved it and I need to go add all her books to my "to read" list on Goodreads! This is a standalone novel that, for me, was fast paced and one that I didn't want to put down. This books is told from Phoebe's point of view and the timeline does flip back and forth a bit, but it's not at all hard to keep up with.
