Synopsis from Goodreads:

Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.

In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from hispoint of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series.
My Thoughts...
I am going to keep this review short and sweet since it's kind of a retelling of Layken and Will's story.  I did review Slammed and Point of Retreat last year, you can read my review of those books here.

To me, this truly is the 3rd book in this series in that it takes the story beyond where the last book ended.  This book isn't just Slammed from Will's point of view like so many of these books are.  Granted it's not really it's own new story, but it is a continuation of the series.  In my opinion, if you are going to do a book from the alternate character's POV, this is the way to do it.  Intermingle the new with snippets of the original story.

In this book Will and Layken are on their honeymoon.  In between the "honeymoon" stuff, they are talking about how they met and how much they have been through.  She is asking him to tell her "what happened when...".   It's not a play by play, more a picking out of the key scenes from Slammed as well as a few new ones.  We find out what happened when he lost his parents, a date that Layken knew nothing about, etc...  These conversations add drama and tension to the current story while filling in those blank spots that we get when a story is told in 1st person.

Then we get to the epilogue and HOLY Butterflying awesomeness, Ms. Hoover has upped her game with a beautiful conclusion for Will and Layken complete with a new Will Cooper original Slam piece.  I loved this book and it's one that I will read again.  If you liked the first 2 books in the series then you will love this one especially if you love Will as much as I did!
