Quick Update

I don't have a review ready for you, but I wanted to pop on here and write something really quick since I have only posted once this week!  We are at the tail end of Spring Break and while we didn't get to go out of town this year I have been spending a great deal of time reading.  I should have a couple of pretty full review weeks coming up.  I hand write all my thoughts on each book as I finish it and those notes get translated into my reviews that I post here.  I just have to take the time to sit and get it all done.  In addition to reviews I have another book giveaway to do.  I received another book for review from TOR/Forge and they have graciously offered me a copy for giveaway as well, so watch for that one next week.

On another note we have been getting a TON of spam comments here on this blog.  Upwards of 30 a day and it's getting pretty tiresome.  We have to approve each comment first, but it's still annoying to see so many come though each day.

In an effort to save some time each day I am going to turn on the Image Captcha for comments.  I know that it's annoying for you to have to go through that process to leave a comment, but I don't know any other way to get rid of all the spam.  If it appears that our comments are dwindling because of the image thing then I will take it off and try to come up with something else.  Please bear with us while we try to get this sorted out.

Thanks for reading, have a great weekend and I will be back next week with some great new reviews!  Maybe I can even persuade Heather to pop in and post something for you!

  1. I hate captcha! I recently posted about it and people really struggle with it. Especially people with bad eyesight and dyslexics. Although I'm neither of those and still find it obnoxious. I'm campaigning to get people to turn it off!! Can you try turning off anonymous comments instead?

  2. I've been having a bunch of anonymous comments recently too, and my blog is tiny compared to yours. This morning I woke up to 4 more of them :(

  3. Shelly, I share your pain/irritation at all those spam comments. They were driving me crazy too a few months ago and I thought the only way to fix their little red wagon was to turn on the equally irritating (to a commenter) captcha. Then lots of bloggers pointed out to me that all I needed to do was to block anonymous commenters. It's worked like a charm! My readers aren't annoyed with the sometimes impossible task of deciphering the captcha letters, and those low life spammers can't touch me.
