Synopsis from Goodreads:

To want what you’re not supposed to have…

She is only nineteen.

She is his new stepfather’s daughter.

She is still naïve and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother.

But for twenty-four year old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.

Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama, after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida gulf coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that…

Blaire just may have fallen too far.
My Thoughts...
I really liked this book.  It was a super quick read that ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.  I believe the 2nd book will be out in just a couple weeks and I can't wait to read it!  It's been a really long time since I have connected with a female character as quickly as I connected with Blaire.  I knew I liked her the minute she pulled that gun on Grant!  For me, she was one of those people that you can't help but care for.  I got really wrapped up in how she was being treated and I hurt right along with her.

Blaire is a very innocent and she seems very young.  She has only ever had one boyfriend and he was kind of a dog.  Her dad left her mother several years before and when her mother got sick Blaire got her GED and dropped out of school to take care of her.  Her mother is gone now and she is all alone except for the dad she hasn't seen in 5 years.  Her dad tells her she can come stay with him, but when she shows up he is gone on vacation with his new wife.

I gotta tell you that I loved Rush, but if you have been reading my reviews for very long you probably know that!  I love a bad boy, and a bad boy with tattoos and piercings....even better!  Rush is the son of Blaire's dad's new wife and a rock star.  Actually, the house her dad is living in belongs to Rush.  Rush is a big time party boy and a class act jerk for most of the beginning of the book.  His house is a party zone when Blaire shows up.  He tells her she can stay, but only until her dad gets home and she has to stay in the maids room under the stairs behind the pantry!

Despite the way Rush acts Blaire is drawn to him immediately and he to her, but he has this way to pushing her away that can be pretty ugly.
“You don’t want to know me. You may think you do but you don’t. I promise.” - Rush
I don't want to give anything away so I won't go into the story much more, but I will say that things heat up between them pretty quickly and it's steamy!  He has secrets that he's keeping from her and they are big enough to tear them apart especially if she finds out from someone other then him.

I loved the characters in this story.  There are some that you just have to love, like Grant, and those that you hate from the minute they open their mouth, like Nannette.  I felt like the pacing of the story was right on and the characters were really well developed.  I wouldn't have felt so much for them so quickly otherwise.  This is one of the better self published books I have read.  It's really well edited and that's a wonderful thing when you read a lot of indies. This was my first Abbi Glines book, but I will definitely be looking up some of her other series because I really like her writing style.

If you like New Adult romance and you like a story with a good bad boy then I highly recommend this book!  I am not going to pretend like it was a deep and overly meaningful read.  It did have some elements of a deeper story, forgiveness, learning to trust, etc...but for me it was just a good romantic read.  It does have some pretty steamy love scenes like most New Adult so if that's not your thing then keep that in mind.
