Synopsis from Goodreads:
A Time of Healing…

A summer on the Virginia coast is exactly what Jordan Manning needs to regroup and recover from a near-fatal accident at the hands of her abusive ex-husband. Wanting only to spend time bonding with her two sons and come up with a direction for their future, Jordan’s perfectly crafted plan is turned upside down when she runs in to Rob Tyler, the first man who ever broke her heart.

A Second Chance…

He was content with his life; at least that’s what Rob had been telling himself until seeing Jordan again. Spending time with her and her boys has Rob re-evaluating his life. Making up for his past mistakes won’t be easy, but the chance of having Jordan back in his life makes him want to try.

Will a summer together be enough to heal old wounds?

My Thoughts...

This book was another really quick read for me.  Sometimes you just need one of these really nice quick romances to kind of cleanse your palette after more heavy reading!

Jordan is a woman in her early thirties, she is taking her 2 boys on a month long vacation to the beach, but it's the end of the season and the boys don't really want to go.  They think that it's going to be long boring month.  Jordan has just recovered from a horrific car accident that was caused by her ex-husband who had been drinking.  He ex-husband is a class A jerk.  He was very mentally abusive to her throughout their marriage and the boys saw how he treated her.

On their first day on the beach she runs into Rob when she is trying to find a grocery store.  Rob just happens to be her high-school boyfriend.  Rob has loved Jordan since they broke up way back then.  He never married or had a family of his own because he always dreamed of having that with Jordan.  Her boys take to him immediately and he is able to be the father figure that they never really had.

There seemed to be a couple of timeline inconsistencies or maybe just unclear details as to when exactly Jordan was divorced and when the car accident happened.  It wasn't enough to detract from the story really, it's just something that I wondered about as I was reading and I had to go back and forth to try to figure it out!  The only other thing about the story that bothered me, and this happens a lot in these type of romance stories, both Rob and Jordan jump to conclusions when they see something that they don't understand.  I know that it adds drama to the story, but they just seem to waste so much time being jealous or mad about nothing.

Overall, this was a nice romance story.  Other than a few tiny things and a couple of typos, it's well written.  I really liked all the characters in this one, Jordan's ex-husband excluded of course.  Jordan's boys really do steal the story though and the way they interact with Rob is just phenomenal.

There are a couple of tastefully written love scenes that aren't overly detailed.  If you are looking for a quick romantic story then you can't beat the kindle price on this one!
