Synopsis from Goodreads
The Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster phenomenon continues in the first heart-pounding new adult romance in The Maddox Brothers series. My Thoughts...
Fiercely independent Camille "Cami" Camlin gladly moved on from her childhood before it was over. She has held down a job since before she could drive, and moved into her own apartment after her freshman year of college. Now tending bar at The Red Door, Cami doesn’t have time for much else besides work and classes, until a trip to see her boyfriend is cancelled, leaving her with a first weekend off in almost a year.
Trenton Maddox was the king of Eastern State University, dating co-eds before he even graduated high school. His friends wanted to be him, and women wanted to tame him, but after a tragic accident turned his world upside down, Trenton leaves campus to come to grips with the crushing guilt.
Eighteen months later, Trenton is living at home with his widower father, and works full-time at a local tattoo parlor to help with the bills. Just when he thinks his life is returning to normal, he notices Cami sitting alone at a table at The Red.
As the baby sister of four rowdy brothers, Cami believes she’ll have no problem keeping her new friendship with Trenton Maddox strictly platonic. But when a Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever—even if she is the only reason their already broken family could fall apart.
In the first installment of the Maddox Brothers books, readers can experience the rush of reading Beautiful Disaster for the first time, all over again.
HOLY Maddox Brothers Batman!! Ok, so I loved Travis...so much, but I gotta tell you there is a new Maddox boy in my life now and his name is Trenton. Even when Travis showed up in this book I was like, "Travis who?"!! This book is happening pretty much at the same time as Beautiful Disaster so Travis and Abby do show up from time to time in the bar that Cami works in.
So we already know Trenton since we met him in Travis' book and we even met Cami in that book as well, but we know so very little about who they really are...until now. Cami is the lone girl surrounded by men, brothers, a cousin and a father who is a drunk. Sure, her mother is there, but after years of living with a drunk she's not much help. Cami gets out on her own as soon as she can and she tries her best to stay away from her family except for dinners occasionally. She is a strong woman. She's know the Maddox boys pretty much all her life, but she's never been more that friendly with Trenton. When he starts coming in to The Red, wanting to spend time with her she is more than happy to be friends, but she has a boyfriend. They start spending more and more time together she still keeps him at arms length even though she is falling for him. Cami has been dating TJ for awhile now, but he has a job that keeps him away from her most of the time. He doesn't seem to place the same priority on their relationship that she does so it's not hard to see why she is falling for Trenton.
Trenton is amazing! He has suffered the loss of his mother and then a horrible accident changes his life yet again. He lives with his dad, but he's saving to get a place of his own. He works as a tattoo artist. He falls pretty quickly for Cami, in fact he's been in love with her since they were in school, but he always kept his distance. He continues to keep his distance, somewhat, because he knows she's dating someone. They spend time together as friends and he is always there for her when she has trouble with her family. He is there for her when her boyfriend isn't and it's not long before they both get in too deep to walk away.
I gave this book 4 stars on Goodreads and I will tell you why. All of the New Adult books I have read either have a twist or they get to a point where there is a big conflict, they break up and then realize how much they really love each other, etc.. In this book, because Cami has a boyfriend there isn't the same "formula" if you will. There is a big secret that I was able to figure out fairly early on and that didn't bother me. What did bother me was that once the big reveal is over there wasn't much left of the book. There was all this build up to the "conflict" but not much time for resolution so the ending felt really rushed to me. Granted, I did get an ARC of the book so I will most definitely be buying a finished copy just in case any changes were made.
All in all, I LOVED this book even more than Beautiful Disaster I think. I loved that it all happens during the same time frame so we got little snippets of Travis and Abby. I adored Trent so, so much! I can't even imagine how much I am going to love the rest of the Maddox brothers...
