Synopsis from Goodreads:
From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside–so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.
No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.
Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession…
My Thoughts...
Honestly, with every book Gideon Cross just gets more sexy and I just love him more and more. Ms. Day seems to set the bar higher with each installment of this series. I am SO not one of those people who is upset that the story isn't over after this book. I want so many more books about Gideon that she could just continue this series forever and I would be a happy camper! I also read one review that was upset that it was a cliffhanger. It's not a cliffhanger, in fact it almost could have been the final book in the series if not for the fact that some story lines were left open or started.
So in my review of Reflected in You I mentioned that I hoped we saw more of Victor, Eva's dad. Boy did we see more of him in this book! He is such a sweet man and he really is a wonderful father. It was devastating to him to learn what happened to Eva when she was younger, although I have to say that I am not totally on board with how he dealt with it. Eva's mother is the same as ever, controlling and constantly sticking her nose in where it doesn't belong. While it's clear that she has Eva's best interests at heart she has a really bad way of inserting herself into Eva's business and that causes problems for them once again.
Cary played a decent part in this book, but not as much as the last one. There was a major step in his story line that we will see playing out in the next books. He's still very much a part of Eva's life and looks to be for some time. She did keep a lot of things from him throughout the course of this book. He's upset with her and understandably so, but they will work through it, they always do. I think that everyone needs a friend like Cary!
I liked Eva so much better in this book. She still has some work to do, but she isn't running at the first sign of conflict anymore. I think she finally realizes that Gideon loves only her and that he isn't going anywhere. I think he pretty much proved how much he loves her in the last book. They are still dealing with the ramifications of that and will be for some time. They took their relationship to a whole new level in this book and I am so anxious to see how it progresses in the next 2 books. I just hope we don't have to wait too long for the next book.
Ms. Day seems to take each book to the next level when it comes to her love scenes as well. If you thought that that last book was sexy, it has nothing on this one. There are some scenes in this book that will have you blushing, no doubt and one in particular that I sure didn't see coming. There is a fair amount of profanity in this book like there was in the others, some is vulgar, but not used in a derogatory way. If you don't like detailed love scenes then you probably want to take a pass on this series.
If you have enjoyed the last two books in this series then this one can't be passed up. Gideon is still my all time favorite book boyfriend and the FIRST one that is going on my Book {boyfriend} Quilt!!
My daughters paediatrician is called Gideon ... enough said! Thanks for the review I am about 1/2 way through it and enjoying Sylvia's writing.
