Synopsis from Goodreads:

Josh Lyons is doing what he loves -- proving what happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas. Josh heads a small detective agency that documents the indiscretions of unfaithful spouses for use in divorce and custody proceedings.

During a routine job, Josh rescues a young Asian girl from a prostitution ring and gives the girl to a friend of his on Metro's Vice Squad. When he hears a contract has been put out on the girl and someone in Metro is involved, he steals her from the "safe" house and hides her from the people who want to kill her.

Accused of being a kidnapper and child molester, Josh is pursued by the cops, the mob, and the media. Friends who will help him are hard to find and difficult to keep alive. The girl wants to get back to her pimp. His computer guy is not into violence. And the ex-missionary who speaks the girl's language doesn't approve of Josh's lifestyle.

Josh doesn't know who he can trust but when his office is blown up, he realizes he's going to have to take down some rich and powerful people if there's any hope for them to survive.
My Thoughts...
I have to say that I am really starting to enjoy these detective novels!  Las Vegas is the perfect setting for this story.  Josh is not your typical Private Eye, but after a short stint working for the Las Vegas Police Department, that's just what he is.  During a pretty routine unfaithful spouse case he stumbles upon a much bigger case involving child prostitution.  He ends up on the run with a 14 year old Thai/Karen prostitute.

With the help of his team and a missionary he protects Jaidee while trying to find out who wants her dead.  Jaidee knows too much and they are just one step ahead of a group who will stop at nothing to make sure that she isn't able to talk to anyone.  They enlist the help of Josh's best friend who works Vice, but she knows there is a mole in the department somewhere who is feeding information to the people they are after.

This story is full of suspense and it will have you on the edge of your seat right up to the end.  It's pretty evident early on who is behind the prostitution, but there are no pains taken to hide that.  The mole reveal is quite another story.

Josh's character is very likable.  He's struggling to deal with things that have happened in his past. He's a family man who has lost his family and he is still living like they are still there.  It's pretty wonderful to see how he takes care of Jaidee.  He also has friends that will do anything for him.  I am curious to see, if the story continues, if anything will happen between Josh and Steph.

This is a well written story with characters that are nicely developed and rich.  There were a couple of spelling errors and words missing, but they didn't take away from the story at all and it's just something that you deal with when reading a self published book.  I really did enjoy this story and I wouldn't hesitate to read more of Mr. Morey's work, especially if he wrote more about Josh!
