My thoughts... 

I think that I liked this book even better than the first one.  This one centers on Tabby, Victoria's assistant and Parker's security guy Connor.  They met in book 1, but this book takes place 3 years later.

There isn't much I can say about the plot of this book without spoiling things so I am going to keep my comments pretty short.  Connor contacts Tabby to help him with a case and it turns out she is connected to the target they are investigating.  Connor and Tabby have a pretty volatile relationship that gets pretty intense at times.  This definitely makes for interesting reading and their chemistry is off the charts hot!

This story does have a lot more suspense than the last one and the action is what moves the story along at a good pace.  There were elements, as with the last one, that are somewhat unbelievable, but no less interesting to read.  There is a lot about computers and hacking and the damage that can truly be done by someone who knows what they are doing and that was interesting to me for sure.  I also really liked getting to know Tabby and Connor better.  They have a decent set up in book one, but this one really digs deep into who they are.

I am anxious to see if she does another installment in this series.  This time I have no idea who the leads will be.

What I Think....*long review*

Goodness....where do I start? I have SO much I want to talk about, but it would probably come out in a whirlwind of broken words, so I'll start slowly. One minute I was connecting with the characters and moving right along in the story, then the next minute I wasn't. I played a game of back and forth during the whole novel! After taking a night to really mull over my feelings, I think I pinpointed my problem. I'm just not used to a novel being written in a male point of view! It threw me off my game for a bit, but once I got that kink worked out *hehe* I felt better about everything. It still blew my mind, that's for sure.

My Thoughts...

This is the 3rd installment in the Slow Burn series.  I am not sure how many books there will be, but I could see how there could possibly be 3 more based on minor characters that she's introduced so far.  I have reviewed each of the books and so far none of them are living up to the first one.  As I said before these are great quick reads, I can read through one in a couple hours.  If you are looking for something to take on vacation to read on the beach this would be a good choice.

My Thoughts...

As with my review of Leah Raeder's last book Unteachable, I am going to keep this review rather short.  Partially because this book wasn't my favorite and partially because it's hard to review without giving too much away.  As I stated in my other review I think that her writing is fantastic, but with this book it got a little mixed up in an abundance of pop culture references, quoted poetry and a somewhat convoluted story line.  I gave this 3 stars on Goodreads and that last star is because I do like the way she writes...for the most part.

My Thoughts...

This is the second book in the Slow Burn series and I absolutely loved the first book, but I didn't enjoy this one nearly as much as Keep Me Safe.  I did give this one a 3 star rating on Goodreads, but I would probably even go as low as 2.5 stars if I'm completely honest.  These books are great, quick reads though, and if you are looking for something sexy that you can read in a fairly short amount of time then this is a good series to try.  

This installment starts with a kind of prologue that begins Ari's story when she is a baby.  The main part of the story starts a few chapters in.  Arial has been sheltered her whole life because of her abilities, but when she is threatened by a couple of the boys she teaches she is suddenly exposed and her life is put in jeopardy.  This causes her to seek out the protection of the Deveraux Security Firm where she meets Beau.  Beau is the brother who seems to be the most guarded and at times standoffish.  At first his main priority is to protect her while keeping her at arms length, but this doesn't last too long.  

This is one of those insta-love scenarios really, which is kind of ironic considering the title of the series.  In fact, this entire book takes place over a relatively short amount of time and literally within days they are both "all in", even though her life is in immense danger.  I should also mention that she is quite young and having been so sheltered her whole life has never had any sort of relationship before.  This is where I have the most problem with the book.  I feel like in the first book there was more build up to their relationship and they both seem so much more mature.  Beau is definitely mature, but he almost appears to take advantage of her when she's weak and I feel like he should know better.  

I feel like I have been saying this a lot with the books that I've been reviewing, but I have to say it here again.  I think the ending was too rushed with this book.  There is so much happening and it's all a little, maybe, too fantastic and over the top with the whole supernatural element.  Then it's just over and it's all wrapped up and they are in love and living happily ever after.....until the next book comes out and the Deveraux Security Firm is back on the case.  I do want to see how the series ends, but I will continue to read these books.  I have high hopes for Tori's book, so we shall see!

Again, this is an adult romance so expect the steamy love scenes that Maya usually writes as well as some profanity.  If you enjoy Maya's work then you will want to pick this one up, no doubt.

My Thoughts...

I am going to keep this review pretty short.  The reason being that it's been a couple weeks since I finished the book.  I have been so busy that I'm just now getting a chance to write the review and I don't know that I can do the book proper justice this far removed.

I loved this book, I can tell you that with no hesitation!  In fact I read it relatively quickly.  What I don't love is the cover art.  I received an ARC copy with just a plain red cover and I liked it better that the actual cover.  Pay no heed to the cover, though, the story is excellent.  It's well plotted and the character development is fantastic.

This is a murder/mystery/thriller with romance thrown in, which is always a plus for me.  Cara finds herself the lead suspect when two of her friends are found dead in her apartment.  We know they were killed by a hit man, but who hired the hit man is unknown.  The lead detective is convinced that it was Cara, but his partner David questions what her motive would have been.  He is drawn to her and is convinced of her innocence and plans to prove it while trying to fight his mounting feelings for her.

This story is full of twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat as you try to figure out who the real killer is.  There were moments when I was sure I knew who it was only to be proven wrong in the end.  All in all, I loved the story and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good romantic thriller!

My Thoughts...

If you have followed this blog for very long then you know how many of Maya's books I have read and reviewed.  I have liked, if not loved, most of them, but this book was absolutely my favorite of all of hers that I have read so far.  Here is why I loved it so much: it's a complete departure from the last couple of her series that I have read, it wasn't just another romance story and it had a excellent plot line.  

Ramie has a psychic ability that allows her to help find kidnap victims.  When Caleb tracks her down to help find his missing sister he has no idea what actually happens to Ramie when she connects to the victims.  He's shocked and horrified with himself when he sees what happens to her.  He leaves her to go back to his family, but he vows that he will make it up to her someday.  That day comes just over a year later when Ramie desperately needs someone to protect her.  Caleb Devereaux is a very wealthy man.  When he and his brothers found their sister they started a Security company that would ensure that no one was able to harm his family again.  He has been looking for Ramie for the last year, but she's managed to stay off the grid.  The minute he gets her troubled call he's prepared to do whatever he needs to do to keep her safe.

This story is full of suspense and kept me hooked to the very last page.  It was a quick read for me but that could be just because I didn't want to put it down!  I thought the characters were well done and while I did think they could have used a little more time to get to know each other, it wasn't totally unbelievable that they would have feelings for each other so quickly.  I think that Caleb had feelings for Ramie right off when she unwilling helped him find Tori.  I felt like he was kind of pining for her that whole year he was looking for her.  I think Ramie felt safe with him and it was inevitable that she would fall in love with him quickly.

I will admit that after some of the reading I've been doing for school, this was a little harder for me to read.  Not because I didn't like the story, but because it's not exactly the type of writing I have been reading lately.  I am becoming more critical of writing because of the way I am having to dissect books for one of my classes and that makes it a little harder to just sit and enjoy these types of books that I read "for fun".  I did love the story though and I can't wait for the other 2 books in the series to come out!  This is an adult book so there are some pretty intense and steamy love scenes.  If you are a fan of Maya's work, the scenes in this book are a lot more tame that what I have seen in the past, but they are still very sexy.  This book is also has a serial killer in it so there are some pretty dark scenes as well.

My Thoughts...

This is the second book in this series and I believe that it's the last of this part of the series.  When I say this part of the story I mean the Victor and Sarai/Izabel part.  I know that the next book is going to be centered around Frederic and I can't wait for that one, because I really want to get to know him better.

This was the perfect 2nd book for this series.  There were parts of the book I loved and parts that were just okay, but all in all I loved the book.  I absolutely adore Victor and I very much doubt that he could do anything that would make me not like him.  I thought that Sarai was a little too reckless in this book and I don't think I would have handled her with the patience that Victor did. 

Basically, this book starts out about 8 months after the last book ended.  Sarai has been attempting to live a normal life, but we all knew that wasn't going to last.  She does something stupid that lands her in a bit of hot water and she has to be bailed out.  She finds out that Victor hasn't ever been too far away from her.  She has started on a path that she can hardly go alone and Victor knows he has no choice but to give her what she wants.  Just in case you are wondering, this is totally my Victor!

This book is just stuffed full of action and once I started reading I couldn't put it down.  I ended up reading it in just a couple of hours.  There is a bit of a twist at the end that I did not see coming and it was just the perfect thing for the story even if it doesn't seem like it while you are reading it.  If  you liked the first book then I highly recommend picking this one up.  If you haven't read either book and you are looking for something different then you need to read this series.  This is a New Adult/Adult series so there are some fairly detailed love scenes as well as pretty intense murder and torture scenes.

MY REVIEW

Every once in awhile I like to sit down and read a really good murder mystery and this was an excellent read.  I was also sent the first book in this Texas Rangers series and I loved it as well.  This could absolutely be a stand alone book though.  The main female character is Jolene Granger she's a psychologist who works occasionally with the Rangers and she did make an appearance in the first book and the 2 main characters from that book show up in this book as well.  You don't need any of that back story for this story though.

When Jo was going to school she did one of her big papers on Harvey Day Smith, when he decides to make a confession before he dies he want to talk to her.  The problem is that the Ranger responsible for his capture and the man who contacts her, Brody Winchester, happens to be her ex-husband.  They haven't seen each other in 14 years and working side by side is causing all sorts of old feelings and hurts to come to the surface.  Not to mention the fact that someone is out there killing and disposing of the bodies in the same manner that Harvey Day Smith did.

This book is fast paced and full of twists and turns.  For just a minute I thought I had it all figured out and boy was I wrong!  I love a book that keeps me on my toes and this one definitely did that.  Harvey has Jo all turned around and confused.  He intimates that there is a connection between them that she needs dig deeper to find and this has her tied in knots.  She is starting to re-connect with Brody a man who disappointed her at a time in her life when she needed him to stand by her side.  Jo has a lot of things working against her, but she is a strong woman who doesn't seem to let anything get her down.

If you are looking for a relatively quick read and you love a good murder mystery then I highly recommend this book.  It's an adult read and it has some tastefully done love scenes, but not too much detail and while there is some profanity it's used very sparingly.

My Thoughts...

This was probably one of the better books I have read this year, in fact this rates right up there with the Crossfire books for me!  You know how much I love Gideon Cross!  I loved the suspense and I really liked that at some point I got so caught up in Sara and Chris that I forgot all about Rebecca.  Then suddenly I am at the end and I get hit with a cliffhanger!  Which kinda stunk, but it's not too bad since the next book will be out in just a couple of weeks.

Since this is the first book of a trilogy, I kind of feel like we are just getting to the good stuff.  This first book is really a set up book.  We get a nice look at all the characters, just enough to suck us in so are foaming at the mouth for the rest of the story!  I feel like I know Sara pretty well.  She is a high school English teacher because she needs to pay the bills, but her dream is to work in the art world.  The only thing we really don't know about her yet is what is going on with her father.  That's her big secret.  Sara  is determined  to find out what happened to Rebecca, but for the time being she is enjoying her new found romance and summer dream job.

I don't know what I can say about Chris other than that I think he is pretty amazing!  He's a bit of a bod boy, which I love, and he's talented, famous, he can cook and he's super hot!! He has some deep dark secret that he's afraid to reveal because he's afraid that Sara will run fast and far when she hears it.  Unlike the other women he's had in his life he actually wants to keep Sara.

Then we have Mark.  I'm not sure what I think about him quite yet.  I think we have WAY more to learn about him. He has pretty much handed Sara her dream job on a silver platter, but she soon learns that there are quite a few strings attached there.  He's into some pretty dark stuff and Chris is more than happy to share some of those secrets with Sara.  Mark and Chris have a past that both are reluctant to share the details with Sara, but it's clear that they are both connected to Rebecca in some way.  

SO many questions and not many answers in this installment.  How are Mark and Chris really connected other than the obvious?  Which one is in Rebecca's journals?  Or was it both men?  Who is the man at the storage locker?  How is he connected to Rebecca?  Is Rebecca still alive?  I have no doubt that at least some of these questions will be answered in the next book. 

This book has been compared to Fifty Shades and I have to say that I don't agree.  Sure there are some elements of S&M, but in a completely different way.  The men in this book are both very domineering and rich men. I enjoyed this book more and I hate that so many books get compared to that series even though I did enjoy that series.  This series will stand on it's own without that comparison.  It's well written and the theme is completely different.

I think that if you enjoy a good romantic suspense story with nice love scenes then you will like this book.  It's definitely an adult read though.  There is profanity, some S&M and some very well written steamy love scenes, so be aware!  I know that it's been optioned for a TV series by Starz and I know that I will have to subscribe to Starz when it starts because I definitely want to be watching that!

My Thoughts...
I loved this book!  I picked it up on Amazon awhile back when it was free and while it was my first book by Ms. Naughton, it's not been my last and I just read it a couple days ago!  I have since picked up her Eternal Guardians series and have already read the first 2.

This is a story that has it all...mystery, intrigue, unexpected plot twists, etc...but at it's heart it's a love story.  For me it was a story of how the heart knows even when the mind doesn't remember.

I don't want to re-hash the synopsis too much, but basically Kate's life is turned upside down when her husband is killed in a plane crash.  She survived an accident of her own somewhat recently that left her with no memory of her entire past.  All she knows is what Jason told her when she woke up from a coma 18 months ago.  Now he is gone and she starts searching for answers to questions she has about her medical past.  What she finds confuses her even more.  These questions send her to another city where she discovers a whole life she doesn't remember as well as a family she doesn't recognize.

Ryan is a man who has been living in a fog since his wife died 5 years ago.  He is raising their daughter and running a company and seems to have it all, but deep down he is no more alive than his wife. Ryan and Kate are drawn to each other immediately and the sparks fly, without out a doubt.  There is something about him that she is drawn to and while he knows what it is, it's something that she has to come to terms with on her own.

They are thrown into a plot of deception and lies as they try to uncover just what really happened all those years ago.  They grow closer the closer they get to the truth, but when all the details are revealed will they be able to get passed everything that brought them to this point?  Will they have the second chance they both so desperately need?

This is one of those stories that just sucked me in and I devoured it in a matter of hours.  I did need to have a tissue box handy because it's just one of those stories that tugs at your heart, no doubt.  There are some pretty steamy love scenes and the tension between these two is nothing short of a keg of dynamite!  Beneath all that though is a really beautiful story about love and family and how some things are just meant to be.

I highly recommend this book and you will be seeing more reviews of Ms. Naughton's books here in the very near future!
